Deadline extended for call for ‘NAM projects in the areas of AOP development and transcriptomics for risk assessment’

New deadline: October 10th, 2022

EFSA has extended the deadline for the call for ‘NAM projects in the areas of AOP development and transcriptomics for risk assessment’ (GP/EFSA/ED/2022/01):
This call is aimed at inviting proposals for NAM-based case studies in areas that have been identified in the NAM roadmap as needing further scientific development. It consists of a 2-step procedure, with the first step consisting in submitting a concise Outline Proposal (step 1) that, if shortlisted, will lead to the applicant being invited to submit a Full Application (step 2).

To be eligible, applicants must be on the list of competent organisations designated by the Member States in accordance with Article 36 of Regulation (EC) 178/2002 and Commission Regulation (EC) 2230/2004.

Webinar on confidentiality assessment and content sanitisation in the context of the Transparency Regulation

September 27th, 2022, 10:00 - 11:30 (CEST), online

EFSA will organise a Webinar on confidentiality assessment and content sanitisation in the context of the Transparency Regulation on the 27th of September from 10:00 to 11:30 (CEST).

This webinar will outline the procedures concerning confidentiality assessment and content sanitisation in place at EFSA. It will also provide an overview of the submission of confidentiality requests via the various IT tools, the E-submission Food Chain platform (ESFC), IUCLID or “Portalino”. Finally, it will provide practical guidance on lessons-learnt and essentials to take account of when submitting confidentiality requests.

Representatives of business operators, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as laboratories and testing facilities are invited to attend. Registrations are open until the 23rd of September. More information can be found on the EFSA website.


BTSF Risk assessment – several courses

BTSF has opened registration for different courses:

  • Course 1: Chemical risk assessment 24 - 28 October 2022 – Rome, Italy. Registration deadline: Monday 30th September 2022.
  • Course 8: Risk assessment - Evidence collection, management and integration - Advanced Course (this course complements the knowledge gained in the previous risk assessment courses under the project. Therefore, candidates who previously attended risk assessment trainings will be prioritized).
    • TS01: 14 - 18 November 2022  - Valencia, Spain. Registration deadline: Monday 17th October 2022.
    • TS02: 12 - 16 December 2022  - Valencia, Spain. Registration deadline: Friday 11th November 2022.
  • Course 7: Environmental risk assessment 30 January - 3 February 2023  - Warsaw, Poland. Registration deadline Friday 9th December 2022.

Job opportunity - Postdoctoral Researcher in health risk assessment of endocrine disrupting chemicals

A position as Postdoctoral Researcher in health risk assessment of endocrine disrupting chemicals is available at Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.

This project is focused on development of a mechanism-based approach for identifying and assessing the toxicity of endocrine disrupting chemicals that is applicable in the regulatory setting. The project is centered around applying Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) methodology to organize, integrate and interpret different types of toxicity data (in silico, in vitro, in vivo and human) and draw conclusions about endocrine disrupting properties of chemicals.
